About Sodium Dextrin Octenylsuccinate

Sodium Dextrin Octenylsuccinate is the sodium salt of the reaction product of dextrin and octenylsuccinic anhydride.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, help prevent separation of water-and-oil emulsions, and reduce tangling and roughness in hair for a softer, more manageable finish.[2] It is also used to attract moisture to the formulation and skin surface to help maintain hydration, smooth and soften the skin surface, and lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
