About Sodium Dehydroacetate

Sodium Dehydroacetate is a heterocyclic compound.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in products and slow deterioration during storage.[4] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 0.6% (based on acid content).[2] However, it cannot be used in aerosol spray products.[2] It is described as a white powder, so checking whether it dissolves in water or oil first and then dissolving or dispersing it in the appropriate phase makes it easier to create a uniform formula.[3]
