About Sodium C4-12 Olefin/Maleic Acid Copolymer
Sodium C4-12 Olefin/Maleic Acid Copolymer is the sodium salt of a polymer synthesized from C4-12 olefin and maleic anhydride.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, to keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application.[2] It is also used to adjust a formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
