Sodium C14-18 Olefin Sulfonate is a mixture of long-chain sulfonate salts produced by sulfonating C14-18 alpha-olefins.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, form foam during use, and lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It consists mainly of sodium alkene sulfonates and sodium hydroxyalkene sulfonates.[1]
