About Sodium C13-15 Pareth-8 Butyl Phosphate
Sodium C13-15 Pareth-8 Butyl Phosphate is the sodium salt of a mixture of phosphoric acid esters of butyl alcohol and C13-15 Pareth-8.[1] The number 8 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units, which changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving parts and creates differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and form foam during use.[2] It is also used to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
