Sodium C12-18 Alkyl Sulfate is the sodium salt of the sulfate of a synthetic alcohol mixture with C12-18 alkyl chains.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities be washed away with water, to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to form foam during use.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
