Sodium C12-15 Alkoxypropyl Iminodipropionate is a partial sodium salt of substituted propionic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, reduce tangling and rough feel in hair and leave it smooth and manageable, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2] It mainly has the following structure, where R is an alkyl chain containing 12–15 carbon atoms.[1]
