About Shellac
Shellac is the resinous secretion of the lac insect.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain their form, reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application.[2] It is also used to hold the desired hairstyle in place and to adjust the viscosity and flow of a formula.[2]
