Sd Alcohol 39-A is ethyl alcohol denatured under 27CFR21 with t-butyl alcohol and one of the following: quinine, quinine bisulfate, quinine dihydrochloride, cinchonidine, or cinchonidine sulfate or its salts.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to provide a temporary tightening, astringent sensation on the skin or scalp, dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula, and control viscosity and flow.[2]
