Rh-Polypeptide-51 is a single-chain recombinant human peptide obtained by fermentation in E. coli.[1] The number 51 at the end of the name is only an identifying number used to distinguish different peptides; it does not indicate the amount used or rank of efficacy. In cosmetics, it is used to slow the rate at which formula ingredients oxidize through reactions with oxygen and to help protect the skin from external factors.[3] It cannot be used in cosmetics in Europe.[2]
