About Propylene Glycol Oleth-5

Propylene Glycol Oleth-5 is the propylene glycol ether of Oleth-5.[1] The number 5 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added and changes the balance between water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
