About Propylene Glycol Diheptanoate

Propylene Glycol Diheptanoate is a diester of propylene glycol and heptanoic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to keep powdered ingredients from hardening into lumps and allow them to flow evenly, reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, or nails after application.[2] It is also used to leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth, dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formula, and control the viscosity and flow of a formula.[2]
