About Propyl Benzoate
Propyl Benzoate is the ester of n-propyl alcohol and benzoic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to add fragrance to products or adjust the characteristic odor of raw materials, and to slow deterioration during storage by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in the product.[3] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted up to 0.5% (based on acid content).[2]
