About PPG-9 Diethylmonium Chloride

PPG-9 Diethylmonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt.[1] The number 9 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. Depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached, its miscibility with oils and application feel may vary. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce tangling and rough feel for smoother hair.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
