PPG-8 Glyceryl Ether is the polypropylene glycol ether of glycerin and primarily has an average n value of 8.[1] The number 8 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units; this number and the type of fatty component attached to it affect how well it mixes with oils and its application feel. In cosmetics, it is used to attract moisture to the formula and skin’s surface to help maintain hydration, to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[1]
