About PPG-65-PEG-5 Pentaerythrityl Ether
PPG-65-PEG-5 Pentaerythrityl Ether is a polyoxypropylene, polyoxyethylene derivative of pentaerythritol containing an average of 65 moles of propylene oxide and 5 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 5 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same basic structure, changing this number can also affect water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help powder ingredients flow evenly without caking, reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smooth grooming.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
