About PPG-5-Laureth-5

PPG-5-Laureth-5 is the polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene ether of lauryl alcohol.[1] The number 5 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-affine and oil-affine portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
