About PPG-4 Isodeceth-3
PPG-4 Isodeceth-3 is an individual ingredient used in cosmetic formulations.[1] The number 4 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. Together with the type of fatty component attached to it, this number affects how well it mixes with oils and the feel on application. In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly; to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed; and to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water.[1] It is also used to keep solid particles or droplets from clumping in one place and to help small amounts of oil-soluble ingredients mix transparently or evenly into the water phase.[1]
