About PPG-34-Steareth-3
PPG-34-Steareth-3 is a polyoxypropylene and polyoxyethylene ether of stearyl alcohol, with x averaging 34 and y averaging 3.[1] The number 3 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and fat-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
