About PPG-30 Steareth-4

PPG-30 Steareth-4 is a polyoxyethylene, polyoxypropylene ether of stearyl alcohol.[1] The number 4 at the end of the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-affine and oil-affine portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
