About PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate

PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate is an alkoxylated derivative of benzyl alcohol.[1] The number 3 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. This number and the type of fatty component attached to it affect how well it mixes with oil and its application feel. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, to add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid, and to dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formulation.[2] It is also used to reduce changes to the product and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet light.[2]
