About PPG-20 Tocophereth-5
PPG-20 Tocophereth-5 is an individual ingredient used in cosmetics.[1] The number 20 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. Depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached to it, its oil compatibility and application feel may vary. In cosmetics, it is used to help powder ingredients flow evenly without forming lumps, slow the rate at which formula ingredients oxidize through reactions with oxygen, and help ingredients in a formula bind together to maintain its form.[1] It is also used to help prevent water-and-oil emulsions from separating easily, attract moisture to the formula and skin surface to maintain hydration, and add flexibility so that films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid.[1] It is used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[1]
