PPG-20-PEG-20 Hydrogenated Lanolin is a polyoxypropylene and polyoxyethylene derivative of hydrogenated lanolin.[1] The number 20 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number can alter water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and roughness in hair for a smoother finish, to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
