About PPG-2 Hydroxypropyltrimonium Cellulose

PPG-2 Hydroxypropyltrimonium Cellulose is a quaternary ammonium salt obtained by reacting hydroxypropyl cellulose, propylene oxide, and glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride, with an average propoxylation value of 2.[1] The number 2 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units; the degree to which it mixes with oils and its application feel vary according to this number and the type of fatty component attached. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, reduce hair tangling and roughness for soft conditioning, and leave the skin's surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
