About PPG-12-Buteth-16
PPG-12-Buteth-16 is a polyoxypropylene, polyoxyethylene ether of butyl alcohol.[1] The number 12 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. Depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached to it, its miscibility with oils and application feel vary. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smoother conditioning, to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth, and to dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formulation.[2]
