PPG-1 Trideceth-6 is a polyoxypropylene, polyoxyethylene ether of tridecyl alcohol.[1] The number 6 at the end of the name refers to the average number of ethylene oxide units added. It changes the balance between the water-attracting and oil-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and feel. In cosmetics, it is used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
