About Polyurethane-24
Polyurethane-24 is a complex polymer formed through multistep reactions.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for a smoother finish and to hold the desired hair shape in place.[2] First, isophorone diisocyanate is produced through the reaction of three different polyols: poly(1,4-butanediol)-30, 1,4-butanediol, and dimethylolbutanoic acid.[1]
