About Polyurethane-18
Polyurethane-18 is a polymer with long chains of repeating units.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, and to hold the desired shape of the hair in place.[1] It cannot be used in cosmetics in Europe.[2] In addition, a maximum concentration of 2.5% is permitted in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
