About Polysorbate 61

Polysorbate 61 consists mainly of monoesters and is a mixture of the stearate esters of sorbitan anhydrides and sorbitol condensed with approximately 4 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
