About Polysorbate 60

Polysorbate 60 consists primarily of monoesters and is a mixture of the stearate esters of sorbitan anhydrides and sorbitol condensed with approximately 20 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
