About Polysorbate 21

Polysorbate 21 consists primarily of monoesters and is a mixture of the laurate esters of sorbitan anhydride and sorbitol condensed with approximately 4 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
