About Polysorbate 20

Polysorbate 20 consists mainly of monoesters and is a mixture of laurate esters of sorbitan and sorbitol condensed with approximately 20 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
