Polysilicone-12 is a complex copolymer composed of esters of methacrylic acid containing Cyclomethicone and Cholesteryl Methacrylate, and generally has the following structure, where R is the cholesteryl moiety.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce light transmission so the contents appear less visible through the container.[2]
