About Polyquaternium-96
Polyquaternium-96 is an interfacial ingredient that acts at the boundary between water and oil.[1] The number 96 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number used to distinguish different polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the concentration or molecular size. Its positively charged parts are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that makes hair strands lift or cling together, form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application, and reduce tangling and roughness in hair for smoother grooming.[1]
