About Polyquaternium-94
Polyquaternium-94 is a quaternary ammonium salt formed by polymerizing acrylamide, dimethyldiallylammonium chloride, and methacrylamidopropyltrimonium chloride monomers.[1] The number 94 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that makes hair strands stand up or cling together, form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, and nails after application, and reduce tangling and rough feel to leave hair smooth and well-groomed.[2] It is also used to hold the desired hairstyle in place.[2]
