About Polyquaternium-90

Polyquaternium-90 is a surface-active ingredient that works at the boundary between water and oil.[1] The number 90 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number used to distinguish different polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the concentration or molecular size. Its positively charged parts are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or cling to one another, form a thin film on the skin, hair, and nail surfaces after application, and reduce tangling and rough texture to leave hair smooth and neatly conditioned.[1] It is also used to help keep the desired hairstyle from losing its shape.[1]
