About Polyquaternium-82
Polyquaternium-82 is a surfactant that acts at the interface between water and oil.[1] The number 82 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portion is used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to slow the oxidation of formulation ingredients caused by reaction with oxygen, help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, and reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for a smoother finish.[1]
