About Polyquaternium-75
Polyquaternium-75 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt of Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride and Starch Hydroxypropyl Lauradimonium Chloride.[1] The number 75 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, and nails after application.[2] It is also used to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smooth grooming, and to leave the skin’s surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
