About Polyquaternium-65
Polyquaternium-65 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt composed of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine, butyl methacrylate, and sodium methacrylate monomers.[1] The number 65 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the amount or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily and to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smoother conditioning.[2]
