About Polyquaternium-60

Polyquaternium-60 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium compound obtained by reacting diethyl sulfate with TEA-diricinoleate/IPDI copolymer.[1] The number 60 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or cling to one another, and to reduce tangling and roughness so hair feels smoother.[2]
