About Polyquaternium-57
Polyquaternium-57 is a quaternary ammonium salt composed of castor isostearate succinate and ricinoleamidopropyltrimonium chloride monomers.[1] The number 57 following Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, and nails after application, and to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair, leaving it smooth and manageable.[2]
