About Polyquaternium-55
Polyquaternium-55 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium chloride obtained by reacting vinylpyrrolidone, dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide, and methacryloylaminopropyl lauryldimonium chloride.[1] The number 55 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to hold the desired hairstyle in place.[2]
