About Polyquaternium-44
Polyquaternium-44 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt composed mainly of vinylpyrrolidone and quaternized imidazoline monomers.[1] The number 44 after Polyquaternium is an identifying number used to distinguish different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or cling together and to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, or nails after application.[2]
