About Polyquaternium-39

Polyquaternium-39 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt of acrylic acid, diallyldimethylammonium chloride, and acrylamide.[1] The number 39 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, or nails after application.[2]
