About Polyquaternium-28
Polyquaternium-28 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt consisting mainly of vinylpyrrolidone and dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide monomers.[1] The number 28 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the amount or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or stick together and to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, and nails after application.[2]
