About Polyquaternium-15
Polyquaternium-15 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt formed from methacrylamide and betamethacryloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride.[1] The number 15 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number that distinguishes different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or cling to one another, and to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application.[2]
