About Polyquaternium-114
Polyquaternium-114 is an interfacial ingredient that acts at the boundary between water and oil.[1] The number 114 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, and nails after application; to reduce tangling and rough feel in hair for smoother grooming; and to help hold the desired hair shape in place.[1] It is also used in products that create waves or straighten hair to help change its shape.[1]
