Polyquaternium-112 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt.[1] The number 112 after Polyquaternium is only an identification number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the amount or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, to form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application, and to hold the desired hair shape in place.[2]
