About Polyquaternium-104
Polyquaternium-104 is a quaternary ammonium salt formed by the reaction of Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate, Acrylic Acid, Methacryloylpropyl Dimethicone, and Acrylamidopropyltrimonium Chloride.[1] The number 104 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number that distinguishes different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the concentration or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static electricity in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce hair tangling and roughness for smoother conditioning.[2]
