About Polyquaternium-103
Polyquaternium-103 is an interfacial ingredient that works at the boundary between water and oil.[1] The number 103 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number used to distinguish different polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, reduce light transmission so the contents appear less translucent, and adjust the viscosity and flow of the formula.[1]
